Dr. Lance Bridges serves as Professor of Biochemistry and Department Chair of Medical Education at Alice L. Walton School of Medicine. In his faculty role, he develops and delivers biochemistry content within a novel active-learning curriculum framework grounded in whole health principles. As Department Chair, he advocates and facilitates faculty efforts to ensure future medical students receive an unparalleled education. He strives to synergize his faculty and administrative roles to bolster faculty endeavors for the express purpose of providing a high caliber, student-centric training experience.

Prior to joining the School, Dr. Bridges held faculty positions at University of Central Arkansas and the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina, where he was also a member of the East Carolina Diabetes and Obesity Institute. After returning to his native state of Arkansas, he served as Founding Chair and Associate Professor of the Biochemistry, Molecular, and Cell Sciences Department at the Arkansas College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Bridges received his bachelor’s in biochemistry from John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. He obtained his PhD from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and conducted a National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded post-doctoral fellowship in the field of morphogenesis and regenerative medicine at the University of Virginia.

Dr. Bridges has garnered top medical educator awards at both osteopathic and allopathic medical campuses, contracted as an educational consultant for numerous nonprofit organizations, and earned multiple grants from the NIH, National Science Foundation, and private foundations.
